In Japanese, uma (馬) is the horse. We chose this name because the horse has always moved between worlds — wild and tamed, free but grounded.

We believe the women we make for carry the same energy. They choose presence. They build rituals. They find beauty in slowness.

Uuma is for them. Every piece we make is shaped with that spirit in mind.

Every Uuma piece begins as a lump of clay. It is crafted by hand, dried slowly, and fired at high heat until it becomes something permanent — a vessel that will hold your morning for years.

At Uuma, we believe the objects we use every day should be made to stay. Our reusable bamboo matcha tools and ceramics are designed to become part of your everyday rituals — used often, loved over time, and kept around. Our bamboo whisks and scoops are made to be reused, while our ceramics are created for everyday use. We hope to make pieces that feel worth keeping rather than replacing.

Giving Back as We Grow

Uuma donates 10% of our profits to organizations supporting reforestation and environmental restoration, helping fund the planting of trees, the restoration of damaged ecosystems, and the protection of natural habitats. As we grow, we can give a little back to the natural world that inspires us while making more thoughtful choices about the products we create and the resources we use.

from one girl who wanted beautiful mornings

I started Uuma because I couldn't find what I was looking for. I wanted ceramics that felt considered — beautiful without being precious, handmade without being rough. Objects that would make my morning matcha feel like a ceremony, not just a habit.

I found that in wabi-sabi. In the Japanese idea that imperfection is where the beauty lives. In the horse — the uuma — that moves freely but with intention.

Every piece I curate is something I would want in my own home. Something I'd reach for every single morning without thinking. That's the bar. That's Uuma.

My last name is Ma — 馬 — which means horse in Chinese. Uuma was never just a brand name. It was always a little bit of me.
